I’m not teaching this semester. However, I have been observing classes. I love seeing how everyone approaches teaching differently. Due to the fact that we’re currently remote and the emphasis of this training, I’ve been paying more attention to the variety of output required of students for various tasks and assessments. Seeing how instructors have come up with so many different ways to make their classes accessible has been inspiring. I love the concept of giving the students a choice of breakout rooms. It breaks up a long synchronous class so nicely and it gives the students more ownership and choice in what they’re doing. While I am sad that I’m not currently working directly with students, I think that my current situation allows me to take the best of what everyone is doing and share it. I can’t wait to see more of these ideas make their way across my department!
