I hope you are doing well and staying healthy.I wanted to share a resource we are hoping to use in the near future to communicate with our AE students at Triton College.
Our students usually walk-in with questions or concerns, rather than send an e-mail or call, so we wanted to provide some real-time accessibility.
We are in the process of testing out a tool called Chatzy (www.chatzy.com), which is a free online chatroom and instant messaging service. This would allow the program advisors to hold “walk-in” office hours.
There are also premium versions of the software that have a lot more features on the admin side such as being able to send private instant messages to chat participants).– Dorota

We have not used it with students yet, because the free tool has some limitations. We are exploring other options as we wait to have access to the premium version of the software. We are currently using Textedly to reach a large group of students. This past week, we used the software to poll our students’ technology needs and learned that about 30% of our students are not prepared for online courses! We are also using Google Voice to communicate with our students, which has worked well so far.
